On Sunday 28th August, Haigh Rail Ltd’s Chris Haigh and Claire Webley hosted a charity event from home to raise money for Derian House Children’s Hospice. This hugely valuable local charity provides palliative, specialist respite and end of life care for children and young adults throughout the North West region.
Chris and Claire asked guests for £5 for entry and £1 per drink from the specialist drinks trailer (Chris made up the remainder of the cost). Fish and chips were served free of charge, with children enjoying a bouncy castle and complimentary sweets.
In total, a fantastic £893 was raised on the day, which was kindly made up to a £1,000 by a friend who wasn’t able to be there. This will go towards the cost of care equipment and trips out for the children and young adults receiving care.
Derian House Children’s Hospice is wholly reliant upon donations. It was the first provider of respite and palliative support in Lancashire for families of children with life shortening conditions.
